With over 70 years of experience, Mazzer is one of the best-known names in coffee, and for very good reason. As single-dosing coffee becomes more and more popular, Mazzer stands poised to make an entrance with the Philos: a premium, light commercial, single-dosing grinder made for all methods of coffee brewing.
The Mazzer Philos features vertically-mounted, 64mm flat burrs in two unique options. If you’re looking for high flavor clarity that accentuates floral and fruity flavor characteristics with a pleasant acidity, the 1200D burrs are the right choice. These burrs produce extremely high particle uniformity, lending themselves to the aforementioned flavors. However, if you’re seeking a full-bodied, velvety, balanced espresso, you can choose to install the I189D burr set. These burrs are the evolution of those found in the iconic Mazzer Mini, and tend to work best with medium and dark-roasted coffees.
With the Philos, Mazzer has bridged the gap between stepped and stepless grind adjustment mechanisms, allowing the end user to choose between one of the two. The stepped option offers incredibly small adjustments at just 6 microns per click, allowing for simple changes and ensuring repeatability. However, for infinite settings to dial in that perfect shot of espresso, simply switch to the stepless mode. In either configuration, the Philos is built as an all-purpose grinder, packing power, precision, and technology into a space-saving machine.
