Italian grinder manufacturer Mazzer has marked the 50th anniversary of the release of its original Super Jolly model grinder with the release of the feature-rich Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro. Super Jolly V Pro integrates new upgraded technology from the Mazzer V line and gives baristas an incredible experience of premium quality, precision, and maximum control over the grinding process.

The Super Jolly V Pro Electronic’s 64mm flat burrs, manufactured in the company’s factory in Venice, have been redesigned for greater productivity throughout what’s a wider range of adjustability than found in the Super Jolly. The burrs are also accessible in the V Pro for cleaning without losing the grind setting. Mazzer says the new model also offers lower overall grind retention. A newly adjustable portafilter holder includes a grind activation button.

Get uniform coffee grounds in your portafilter while keeping grounds from getting on the counter with the innovative GFC System. The GFC system consists of a removable aluminum outlet insert equipped with three interchangeable wire dampers. Choose the best wire damper for you according to the coffee origin, roast profile, weather conditions, or barista preferences.

What makes the Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro different from the standard Super Jolly E model?

The Super Jolly V Pro is a ground-up redesign of the original electronic model. The primary differences lie in its thermal stability and grind quality control. The V Pro introduces a dual-fan cooling system that preserves the aromatic integrity of the beans during high-volume periods, a feature absent in the older models. Furthermore, the V Pro includes the GFC (Grind Flow Control) system, which uses interchangeable wire dampers to eliminate the static and clumping issues often seen in the older E series. Ergonomically, the V Pro adds the Memory Track System for resetting zero calibration and a "lift-to-clean" chamber that allows for deep maintenance without losing your grind settings.

What is the significance of the 64mm burr size in the Super Jolly V Pro?

The 64mm flat burr is the "gold standard" for medium-volume cafés because it offers a perfect balance between speed and flavor clarity. In the V Pro, these burrs have been re-engineered to be 20% faster than the original SJ burrs, delivering a standard double dose in under 6 seconds. The 64mm platform is also highly compatible with specialized aftermarket burrs, giving the owner the flexibility to upgrade the grinder's flavor profile—for instance, to a more "unimodal" style for modern light roasts—without having to replace the entire machine.

Can the Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro be used for both espresso and filter coffee?
While the Super Jolly V Pro is a dedicated espresso grinder and is not designed for filter coffee.

How often should I replace the burrs on the Super Jolly V Pro?
For standard hardened steel burrs (233M), Mazzer recommends replacement every 400 kilograms (881 lbs) of coffee. Grinding beyond this limit leads to "dull" burrs that crush rather than cut the beans, generating excessive heat and inconsistent particle sizes. The V Pro’s digital counter can be programmed to alert the user when this threshold is reached, ensuring that espresso quality never suffers due to worn components.

Does the V Pro have a manual override for dosing?
Yes. In addition to the three programmable dose buttons, the V Pro features a dedicated "Manual Dosing" button. Grinding continues as long as this button is held down, allowing the barista to "top up" a dose if necessary.

What is the difference between the Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro vs. Mazzer Super Jolly V Up E?

The "V Up" is often mistaken for the V Pro, but it is a "stripped-down" version designed for cost savings. While both use the same 350W motor and 64mm burrs, the V Up lacks several premium features:

  • Interface: The V Up uses a simple touch display, whereas the V Pro features push buttons and a more comprehensive 19-language control panel.
  • Cooling: The V Pro features a dual-fan cooling system; the V Up lacks internal fans, making it less suitable for sustained heavy rushes.
  • Calibration: The V Pro includes the Memory Track System (MTS) with moveable zero; the V Up does not, making settings tracking more difficult over time.
  • Burr Access: The V Pro is easier to access the burrs for cleaning or replacement than the V Up.

What is the difference between the Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro and the Mazzer Mini?

The Mazzer Mini is designed with home and light commercial useage in mind, featuring 64mm burrs in a much smaller chassis. While the Mini is significantly quieter and more compact, the V Pro is built for a different duty cycle. The V Pro has a more powerful motor and a larger hopper, designed to deliver consistent doses under the pressure of a commercial environment where the Mini might struggle with heat buildup during a "morning rush".

All new Mazzer grinders include 1-year parts and a 30-day labor warranty.
